A TALE OF TWO CITIES   Babel                                                                          Jerusalem at Pentecost Refused to “fill the earth”                             “Be my witnesses to the ends of the earth”        (Acts 1:8) United in self interest “Let us”                  United in the purposes of God City to climb up to Heaven                           City in which God came down Focused on their great name                        Focused on making God’s name great Communication was “confused”                 Heard the wonders of God in our own tongues Tribalism and Separation                               Jew and Gentile, slave and free now one     TWO MEN Nimrod                                            Abram Wouldn’t fill the earth         Couldn’t multiply (without God’s help) Stayed in Babel                         Left Ur of the Chaldeans Built a city in defiance          Sought a better city (Heb 11:8-12) Made his name great               God made his name great (Gen 12:2)   TWO SONGS Fame                                                Salvation Belongs to our God
