The Ascension - What it is and why it matters
What is the Ascension? -Jesus of Nazareth’s bodily return into heaven -His Coronation as king of the Universe 40 days after Easter, on the mount of Olives, the disciples saw the resurrected Jesus ascend the clouds into Heaven. The church has historically understood the ascension as the guarantee that Christ has received glory and honor and now rules with authority over the entire universe. What does the Ascension mean? The Ascension means where Adam had failed, Jesus was victorious. The Ascension means there is now a way into the presence of God. The Ascension means there is a human at the right hand of God. a. Our Prophet b.Our Priest (Hebrews 4:14,1:3,4:16) c. Our King (Eph. 1:20-21) 4. The Ascension means, Jesus is not far off, but near and powerful through the Holy Spirit.
